The Wiser Now Project

What does it mean to live with more wisdom? This is the question at the heart of this project.

You and I are alive in a historical moment many describe as a metacrisis. The living systems that sustain us are crumbling. The economies that have provided some of us with material abundance are structurally bound to exploitation, violence, and eventually, for collapse. Social media stretches our connection across continents while thinning our ability to be present, with and for each other. AI will likely reduce as many costs as it will human jobs, atrophying our capacity for critical thinking along the way. Even ancient wisdom traditions are being put in service of our ego’s “manifestation” goals. Not to mention war, so much war.

Our planet seems to be getting crazier, more polarized, hard to read, yes. And yet, something else is also happening. Many of us feel a quiet, insisting pull toward wholeness. A pull from the inside out, toward lives of integrity, love, and truth. Toward creating our wiser lives and worlds, whatever work is ours to do.

Wiser Now is where I come to make sense of my life, and the one we share. It’s where I come to listen, and write, and explore, through the forms below, how we might bring a wiser now into existence:

✍️ Personal essays, or what I describe as Field Notes. My lived and written experiment with truth and wisdom. Expect musings on life in community, writing, collapse-readiness, culture, and more.

🎧 Podcast interviews with wise human beings across vocations and generations. Guests include author of Breaking Together: a Freedom-Loving Response to Collapse, Jem Bendell; former Israeli soldier turned hempcrete entrepreneur Elad Kaspin; Ruby Reed, co-founder of the transformational learning platform Advaya; and transpersonal psychologist and novogamy proponent Jorge Ferrer.

👩‍💻 Programs & offerings such as online Integral Yoga sessions, online courses, and book clubs where we explore together what it means to live with more wisdom.

👥 In-person retreats, like Let Your Life Speak, where we draw on the power of community to unearth the wisdom and inner guidance stored in our bodies.

If the words above speak to you, I invite you to subscribe to the Wiser Now newsletter below where I’ll keep you updated about our latest creations.

Welcome to what I hope might become for you a home,
Carlota

Everything you’ll find at Wiser Now is a labor of love. I dedicate many—some would say too many—hours to this calling of mine, and I do so because I love it, because it makes me feel alive, because I couldn’t not do it.

A lot of what you read and listen here is offered for free. If you feel called to support my work, and would like to access more personal (and spicy) essays, along with regular discounts for our programs and yoga classes, you can do so through a recurrent paid subscription by clicking the button bellow.

Team

Wiser Now is created by me, Carlota Guedes, with the support and inspiration of many others.

In a time when personal branding so often commodifies our sense of self, and individualism dilutes our communal identities, I prefer not to see this project as mine only. Everything you encounter here was born from countless conversations and collaborations. Wiser Now is a collective project: between me, you, us, and the mystery of life.

The music you hear in the podcast is composed by Carlos Sierra, the sound magician who has greatly elevated this project’s quality through both his music and attentive editing of our interviews.

As for our programs, gatherings, book clubs, and retreats, I’ve had the joy of collaborating with many wonderful beings like writers James Murdock and Guy James, and life coach Nata Buleishvili. Perhaps one day we might create something together too. I’m open to collaborations.
